Offline Mode: How It Works and How to Manage It (iOS app)
This feature and help article is specific to the Social Card iOS app!
What is Offline Mode?
Offline Mode is a premium feature in the Social Card iOS app that ensures your digital business card's QR code works without an internet connection.
This is achieved by directly encoding your card's data into the QR code. While convenient for offline use, there are a few important considerations:
- Premium Feature: This feature is only available for premium card holders.
- Data Limitations: Due to QR code data encoding limits, specific fields are automatically removed to ensure the QR code remains functional.
- Media: Headshot images will automatically be removed from your contact card due to size restrictions.
- Other fields are trimmed to fit within the allowable size.
For most users, we recommend turning Offline Mode off to fully enjoy your digital business card's rich, interactive features. However, the choice is yours!

If you'd like to activate Offline Mode, you can do so by following these steps:

How to Turn Off Offline Mode
If you no longer need Offline Mode, you can deactivate it by following these steps:
- Open the Social Card app on your iOS device.
- Open the Editor for your premium card.
- Scroll to the QR Code section and tap it.
- Tap the Edit Content button below the QR preview.
- Locate the Offline Mode toggle switch and turn it OFF.
- Tap the Back Arrow in the top left corner.
- Select the Save and Publish button.
- Confirm the card publishing event when prompted.
Your card will be updated, and the changes will automatically sync with your Apple Wallet within a few minutes.
Should You Use Offline Mode?
Offline Mode is best suited for users who need their QR codes to function in areas without reliable internet access. For instance:
- Conferences or events in venues with poor Wi-Fi.
- Remote locations where connectivity is limited.
However, turning it on will cause you to lose access to enhanced features like media files and extended fields. Additionally, encoding more data directly into the QR code can make it denser, which may cause some devices to have a more challenging time scanning it. If you want the most interactive and easily scannable digital card, leave Offline Mode off.
